▶ The company will provide an S-UHP tire for the BMW 5 Series.
Kumho Tire, led by CEO Kim Jong-ho, will supply OE tires (tires for new cars) for the G30 5 Series, a key sedan of the German automaker BMW group. Under the deal, the Ecsta PS91, a super-ultra high performance (S-UHP) tire manufactured in Kumho’s plant in Gwangju, South Korea, will be mounted on the 5 Series, which is produced in BMW’s plant in Dingolfing, Bavaria, Germany.
An S-UHP tire optimized for high-horsepower, high-performance vehicles which deliver more than 500 horsepower, the Ecsta PS91 excels other tires of its kind in terms of traction, braking, high speed durability, and ride comfort.
It allows drivers to enjoy a level of performance reserved for high-speed circuit driving on a regular road since it delivers far greater stability in cornering and high-speed driving. With its Y speed rating, the tire offers excellent durability and driving performance even when the critical speed exceeds 300 kilometers per hour.
In addition to its superb performance, the Ecsta PS91 boasts a unique design. Its bottom and side feature a logo in the shape of a racing flag, a symbol of racing circuit, which gives a dynamic and sporty image generally found in a supercar. In 2015, Kumho’s unique design philosophy was recognized when it received a Good Design Award in North America, which was yet another feat that proved its excellence in design.
Since many years, Kumho Tyre is Original Equipment partner of the BMW group. Next to the 1 Series, 2 Series and 3 Series, actually the BMW X3 and the Mini Countryman are fitted with Kumho ex factory.
